I will have no other gods before Him. I will not allow my profession, family, society, finances or culture to come before my God and to run my life so as to keep me from loving Him with all my heart, soul, mind and strength. Deuteronomy 6:4-5.
I will have no other idol before Him. I will turn off my mobile phone, TV or any other idol that distracts my attention when I give myself to worship and to listen to the voice of God at Church or at home. I will not ascribe my salvation, healing or other works of grace to any human being nor ascribe undue glory to any human being except my Lord. Luke 10:42, 18:22; Psalm 24:7, 42:1.
I will not take the name of the Lord my God in vain when I worship, by chanting prayers, lifting hands, singing with my lips – offering lip service – when my mind and heart are far away. Acts 5:3-4.
I will keep the Sabbath day holy. I will consecrate myself on the eve of the Lord’s Day to present myself fresh and beautiful for my maker to sanctify. I will rise early, and prepare myself as the temple of God to be on time to the Church and present myself as a holy, living sacrifice, pleasing and acceptable to God. I will not miss out on any parts of the Church service, displaying honour for a God of glory. Romans 12:1-2; Joshua 3:5.
I will honour the leadership of my Church at all levels and encourage them. I will speak about them in prayer only to the chief shepherd and the great high priest. 1 Timothy 2:2.
I will not murder fellow Church members by gossiping, slandering or thinking low of them, but esteem others better than myself. The only thing that I will seek to put to death with all my heart is my own flesh and carnal self. Malachi 2:10; Mathew 5:21-24; Ephesians 4:25-32.
I will not commit adultery by entering into relationships that compromise the Holiness of God, His Temple and His People with wickedness or with powers of evil but perfect holiness in the fear of God. 2 Corinthians 6:14-18; 1 Corinthians 6:15-20.
I will not steal the Lord’s tithes and offerings, in giving to the Lord through my Church, for I believe God loves a cheerful giver. I will not defile the Lord’s offerings by giving grudgingly or giving torn or soiled notes that I cannot exchange in the market.Malachi 1:7-13, 3:8-12.
I will not give false testimony to my neighbour by claiming that I am a Christian, without imitating Christ or that I am a spirit-filled person without walking in the Spirit or putting to death the flesh. Galatians 6:25.
I will not covet or envy my neighbours’ family, materialism, individualism, pleasure-seeking or extravagant greed driven lifestyle, for Godliness with contentment is great gain. 1Timothy 2:2, 4:8, and 6:6,11. May these commitments enrich your experience of intimacy with God as a true worshipper and may the blessing that come from right worship enrich your life.
